Transport of peptidoglycan precursors

The peptidoglycan precursors are synthesized in the cytosol but assembled exterior to the plasma membrane. For this the precursors have to be transported across the cytosol. A recent paper describes the protein, MurJ, that 'flips' the precursors across the membrane from the cytosol. Click here for the paper.
