This study involves studying proteins of the cell wall whose functions have yet to be determined but preliminary studies suggest their possible function as enzymes. Our organism of interest is Mycobacterium tuberculosis, but the pathway/enzymes under consideration are present in virtually all bacteria.
Candidates must have a demonstrated expertise in biochemistry in order to fully avail from this fellowship. Expertise or interest in using biochemical approaches, HPLC, LC/MS is expected as these techniques are central to our studies. The candidate should have recently completed or about to complete his/her PhD.
